Waiting...

I've been in a bit of a rut with my reading lately. I have five books or so that I'm somewhat in the middle of right now. I used to pick up a book and read it straight through. That was when all the books I read were fabulous. Or I thought they were. I'm so sick of picking up a book that looks good and finding out its just junk that I only read books by recommendation now. Sometimes (mostly I guess) its just that the book has had a good review that I liked, or its on a list of really good books. But I'll pick up a book, and start reading and just hope that it hooks me. And if it doesn't, then I'll set it down again, and maybe pick up another one in the hopes that maybe this will be the one... The one that makes me stay up way too late to try to finish. Because I think I'm a book addict, and that really engrossing, grabs-you-and-pulls-you-in story is my high, and I think I need a fix.

But I'm a good little girl, and I usually finish all the books I start, because most of them are good, and some of them good for me, and maybe because I'm a little compulsive. Matt would say stubborn. Anyway, right now I'm waiting. Waiting for a package from Barnes and Noble, because the book I want is sold out at the store. I'm hoping I love it. My package isn't scheduled to arrive until Tuesday though. But I'll let you know...

Action shots

Typical of how they get along together. Fighting, but laughing about it.

Salt Lake Century

Matt rode in the Salt Lake century today. It's 105 miles starting at the Salt Lake fairgrounds then out to Antelope Island and back. Matt said that there were tons of bugs on the causeway out to Antelope Island. Yuck! This was a picture from last year's ride. He took 20 minutes off his time from last year. Yay! He's really put in a lot of time riding. His goal this year is to do Lotoja (Logan to Jackson). All I can say is he must be improving. Last year he was useless the whole rest of the day. At least today he's taking us out to get gelato (after the hour long nap, of course.)

Riding in style

This is my new bike!! It got in to the store today, and I go in for a fitting this evening. I've been riding my ancient mountain bike around for a few weeks now. Ancient as in I've had it since high school. I know, its almost an antique!

I went on my first group ride this morning with a few friends. So much fun!! But I was so totally slow, everyone just flew by on the uphills. But then again, I flew by them on the downhills. There was one hill that was really long, I got going so fast. At the bottom, I just sat there giggling because it was so fun! I want to do that one again!! Seriously, the most pure fun I've had since I was a kid.

Stormin' the Castle

We've got it done! After stressing and stressing about it, it didn't end up being that difficult to pull together. James liked helping more than Paige did. He's excited for when he gets to make his castle...two years away!

Medieval Day

This, by way of visual aid, is what I have been doing for the past week.  I haven't made dinner, I've done minimal dishes, haven't cleaned my house, everything, everything else has been put on the back burner.  I haven't even read any books!!!  (Now that is really saying something.)
My darling mother has come up almost every day to help me this week.  I bought the pattern and the fabric, and then realized I couldn't sew.  My mom gets a frantic call pleading for help, and she drops everything to come and sew with me.
But oh!!  Paige sure looks pretty!

Now we just have to finish painting the castle!!

It makes a mother proud

The other day the kids had gotten out their science paraphernalia (Paige's toy microscope, James' light kit with prism, lightbulb, electrodes and battery). Thomas was whining: I want some science stuff...why can't I have science stuff...I like science too!!!

A rare moment...

I don't remember what movie they were watching, but I love it when they get along like this.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!! Our Easter services were so spiritual. My heart burned within me, and my testimony was reaffirmed: Jesus lives!! He loves us, and suffered for our sins that we might be forgiven, and find peace and joy in our lives. I know of the power of that forgiveness, the anguish of soul that is turned to peace. I am continually grateful for a loving God, that sent his son here to give us this beautiful gift. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers, for mine have been heard, and often granted. I know that God acts in our lives, that he is not a passive God, for I have had divine intervention in my life. I seek for ways that I may be his hands on earth, that I may bless the lives of others as my life has been blessed. I am thankful for the Holy Spirit that I felt today burn so strongly within me, grateful that I can have its guidance daily, helping me through hard times, and difficult decisions. I love you all, my friends and family, and wish for you all that the Spirit can bring: Joy, Love, and Peace.

More important things than teeth

I have a tooth that needs a root canal. When it really hurts the whole side of my face hurts. It started hurting last weekend so I was able to get an appointment for the dentist on Monday. Well, because the whole right side of my face is hurting, I can't tell him which one is causing all this pain, and as he says, "There are a number of candidates." So I'm supposed to wait until it gets bad enough that it's fairly obvious which tooth it is. I have an appointment with the endodontist this evening, and hopefully we'll figure out which tooth it is. But I'm just begging for them to actually do the root canal.

I was telling my kids how much my tooth hurt, and James says, "Just ignore it, mom. There are more important things than teeth."

Yeah, there are more important things, but OW!!
